The only reason it is in clinic is because I have personal experience of how amazing it can be. After I ran the London Marathon in 2019, I was out for a run and was forced to stop due to the excruciating pain in my right heel. It had been a bit niggly up until then but I had ignored it. How does it work?
It is used by Premier League football clubs and professional sports bodies worldwide because it has been shown to decrease pain and reduce healing time so rehabilitation can begin faster. It uses high energy acoustic waves aimed specifically at the point of injury to stimulate repair at a cellular level and modulate pain without affecting healthy tissue. This treatment can provide an an anti-inflammatory, antibacterial effect whilst promoting microcirculation and metabolic activity. It is also proven to reduce the chemical substance in the tissues that causes pain, as well as reverse the growth of pain nerve receptors, meaning it can get rid of your pain, not mask it.
